Accessibility Statement

Everyone in our community should be able to use this website, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification, or a phone on a slow connection. If something here does not work for you, tell us and we will fix it or get you the information another way.

The standard we build to

Nuestra Clinica del Valle receives federal funding, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act require our programs, including this website, to be accessible to people with disabilities.

We build and test this site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. That is the standard the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services applies to health care websites.

What we have done

  • Text is large by default, and every color combination meets the contrast minimum.
  • Every page works with a keyboard alone. The item you are on always has a visible outline, and a “Skip to main content” link is the first thing on each page.
  • Headings, lists, tables, and page regions are marked up so screen readers can move through a page by structure.
  • Photographs that carry information have a text description. Decorative pictures are hidden from screen readers.
  • Form fields have visible labels, and error messages say what to fix.
  • The map of our clinics is also a list of links, so it works without sight or a mouse.
  • Nothing moves or plays on its own, and nothing times out.
  • Pages are designed for small phone screens and slow connections first.
  • Each page is checked with automated testing tools and by hand with a keyboard and a screen reader.

Known limitations

Some parts of the site still fall short, and we are working on them:

  • Some PDF documents, such as event flyers and forms created before this website, may not be fully readable with a screen reader. Call us and we will give you the same information by phone or in another format.
  • The Patient Portal is run by eClinicalWorks, our electronic health record vendor. We do not control its accessibility. If you cannot use it, call your clinic and staff will help you with the same tasks.
  • “Directions” links open Google Maps, which has its own accessibility features and limitations.

Other formats and in-person help

We can provide information from this site in large print, by phone, or by reading it to you, at no cost. Qualified sign language interpreters and spoken-language interpreters are available at every clinic. See Language Access for how to ask. Our clinics are wheelchair accessible. If you need a specific accommodation for a visit, call the clinic ahead of time at 956.787.0787.

Tell us about a problem

If you find a page, document, or feature you cannot use, please tell us where it is and what happened. We will respond and work to fix it.
